Today, Nicole Mitchell confirmed her candidacy in the new Senate District 47, which includes Woodbury and part of Maplewood.
"I am proud to affirm my total commitment to continuing my campaign in the new Senate District 47. I grew up in this district. I’m raising my family here, and I know what a special place this is. I have always given back in various ways from being a volunteer and foster parent to serving in the National Guard.
“I'm running to serve the people of Woodbury and Maplewood and ensure a future where our citizens thrive. This includes supporting our public schools, protecting Minnesota's environment, and advancing policies that keep our neighborhoods safe.
“I plan to bring my tireless work-ethic to the campaign, along with my ability to work across party lines. I am excited to continue talking to voters, listening to their concerns, and coming up with solutions to the critical challenges facing Minnesota."
Nicole Mitchell grew up in Woodbury and is a 3rd generation veteran who is a Commander in the Air National Guard. She is a mother to three boys, two 5-year-olds and a 7-month-old, two of whom are foster children. An environmental scientist and meteorologist, she has studied and educated on climate change for years. She also has a law degree and is a member of the Minnesota Bar.
