July Newsletter

Leadership with Heart.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your continued support as we move into a full-fledged campaign summer! I have been honored to talk with so many neighbors door-knocking, and look forward to meeting many more, as we work together to run hard, be positive, and keep talking to voters right up until election day.

The past couple weeks have demonstrated how critical state elections are in protecting and preserving our individual rights. Not only did the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe send a crushing blow to women’s freedom to control their own bodies, instead allowing state governments to make those decisions for us, but other SCOTUS decisions minimized civil rights, expanded the ability for state tax dollars to fund to private religious schools, and weakened EPA protections, putting our environment at risk. Supporting local Democrats to ensure these critical rights are preserved on a state level has never been more important!

Our team has worked hard this past month to make sure that happens. We’ve met our neighbors, talked to voters, hosted three meet and greets, and attended meetings on critical issues such as women’s reproductive rights and supporting pensions. Thanks to our volunteers, hundreds of postcards were sent to veterans and their families in time for the 4th of July weekend.

Early voting for the August 9 primary has begun. Although I am not on this ballot, there is a very important school bond issue for those in District 833, as well as primary challenges in other races. To request an absentee ballot or for information on other ways to vote, go to the Secretary of State’s website: https://www.sos.state.mn.us/elections-voting/other-ways-to-vote/

Show your support with a lawn sign!: We will put most out in early September, but they are allowed now, and I just picked up a big order!  My parents and sons have been super-excited to see some of the early signs out with my name on it, so thanks to those who already have them up. Sign up for one here: https://www.nicolemitchell.org/volunteer or they can be picked-up at our volunteer evenings, or you can get signs through SD-47 at: https://www.sd47.org/If you’re able, $10 helps cover the cost of the sign (or consider the entirely refundable $50 political contribution refund MN does!) https://www.nicolemitchell.org/donate, but no pressure…we’re just grateful for those helping to get my name out!

As always, thank you for being a part of Team Nicole as we work toward a Minnesota where public schools are funded and safe, veterans and those in service to our state and country are supported, our environment is protected, and healthcare is affordable.
